Ted Cruz alleges Democrats are the party of the Ku Klux Klan
Senator Ted Cruz is coming for the Democrats over their treatment of Jeff Sessions during the confirmation hearings for the senator who is Donald Trump’s pick for attorney general.
Specifically, Cruz slammed Elizabeth Warren. “The charges she was making against Jeff Sessions are demonstrably false, they’re slanderous, they’re ugly,” Cruz said in an interview with Fox News in reference to Warren reading from a 1986 letter from Coretta Scott King.

Warren was barred from continuing to speak on the Senate floor because of a scarcely-used rule against “impugning the motives” of another senator.
He then went on to slam the Democrats in general, pointing to their history with the Jim Crow South.
“When the left doesn’t have any other arguments, they go and accuse everyone of being a racist,” Cruz said. “It is an ugly part of the modern Democratic party.”
He then continued, “I’ll point out the Democrats are the party of the Ku Klux Klan. You look at the most racist, the Dixiecrats, they were Democrats who imposed segregation, who imposed Jim Crow laws who founded the Klan. The clan was founded by a great many Democrats. Now the Democrats accuse anyone they disagree with of being a racist.”
It bear’s noting that the parties known as Democrat and Republican have switched platforms several times during history.
