Theory suggests Nicki Minaj dig was intended for Azealia Banks

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

This week, Nicki Minaj’s diss track “Make Love” ignited a feud with Remy Ma, who clapped back with “ShETHER,” which dragged Minaj for allegedly sleeping with Trey Songz and radio personality Ebro Darden, and for supporting her brother even after he had been accused of child molestation.

But Facebook fans of Minaj think that “Make Love” isn’t even about Remy Ma. They say the dig was meant to be about another female rapper, Azealia Banks, and was a response to since-deleted tweets from Banks mocking Minaj’s weight and telling her to stop claiming she is the queen of rap.

As evidence, fans pointed to lines like “She ain’t eatin’ but I swear she got some bum ass taste/Text her man like, ‘Dawg, how that bum ass taste?'” Fans say that is a reference to Banks’ debut album, Broke With Expensive Taste.

Then there’s the line, “Oooohhh, oh you the qu-e-e-the queen of this here?/One platinum plaque, album flopped, bitch, where?” which fans say is a reference to Banks breakout hit “212,” which is not technically platinum but racked up over 130 million YouTube hits before those were counted as sales figures.

And the line “Pay your rent! And stay in your bum ass place,” might refer to rumors that Banks is begging friends for help financially.

Of course there are still lines that have others convinced Minaj was also throwing shade at Remy Ma.
