Kaepernick donates $50K to Meals on Wheels following Trump budget cut
The move comes after President Trump mocked Kaepernick for being a free agent because NFL owners don't want to "get a nasty tweet from Donald Trump."
Despite being a free agent who has remained unsigned with any NFL team, Colin Kaepernick has been using his influence to continue to do good around the world.
Recently, Kaepernick donated $50,000 each to both the Meals on Wheels America and the Love Army for Somalia organizations. Meals of Wheels was recently reported to be in jeopardy under the proposed budget for the Trump administration, while Love Army for Somalia is a campaign trying to reach a $2 million goal for fundraising for the nation facing starvation.
The move comes just days after President Donald Trump mocked Kaepernick over his claim that the athlete remains a free agent because NFL owners don’t want to “get a nasty tweet from Donald Trump.”
Kaepernick has donated $100,000 per month to organizations and charities since the month of October. In January, for example, he donated $25,000 to each of the following organizations: Black Veterans for Social Justice and 350.org, the Center for Reproductive Rights in New York, and the Coalition for Human Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles. Despite his continuing charitable campaigns and his promise not to kneel during the national anthem during games anymore, Kaepernick has remained a free gent as, reportedly, many NFL teams do not want to touch him. Still, he is continuing his activism, and we applaud him for that.
