Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali took to Instagram to show off his beautiful baby daughter, Bari Najma.

“Bari x Abu,” the Oscar-winning actor captioned the picture of himself with Bari on his lap. “Abu” is the Arabic word for “father.”
Ali welcomed little Bari into the world in February with his wife, Amatus Sami-Karim. This is the first child for both of them, and it’s clear they’re very excited about parenthood.
Earlier in March, Ali told People that fatherhood was a “different kind of crazy,” but he has been loving it all the same.
“She was smiling last night,” he said. “It’s just been great to know this little person whose body seems to change every day and whose awareness heightens every day. It’s just been exciting.”
He went on to talk about how fatherhood had changed his perspective on life as well as his worldview.
“I think it changes your relationship with time,” he revealed. “I just don’t have time to waste. You gotta be really deliberate with how you choose to spend your day because those are the moments you’re away from your child. If anything, I want to work in a more focused way and discover the right balance for my life.”
