Taraji P. Henson and Nia Long’s reported feud allegedly started when Henson joked that Long was on her period.

The whole thing began, according to TMZ, when Long showed up late on set and one actor joked, “Damn, why are you on black people time?”

When Long got upset, Henson, who is said to be protective of her Empire cast and crew, stepped in and asked, “What are you, on your period? Is it that time, girlfriend?”

The two fell into a heated argument, TMZ reports, and it doesn’t look like things have improved between the two of them since then, judging by a statement from Long’s reps claiming she did the show because of her longtime friendship with her Best Man co-star Terrence Howard.

The statement went on to say that the timing of the alleged accusations coincided with the mid-season premiere of Empire, suggesting that it was all a ratings ploy.
