Trump’s son-in-law gets new gig to reform government as a ‘business’

On Monday, President Donald Trump is expected to announce the creation of the White House Office of American Innovation, which will focus on reforming the government through solutions from the private sector. His son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is expected to head up the new office.

The office is expected to act on Trump’s campaign promises to bring leanness back to the government through Trump’s private business acumen.

“All Americans, regardless of their political views, can recognize that government stagnation has hindered our ability to properly function, often creating widespread congestion and leading to cost overruns and delays,” Trump said in a statement to the Washington Post.

“I promised the American people I would produce results, and apply my ‘ahead of schedule, under budget’ mentality to the government.”

Kushner himself spoke to the Post saying that “we should have excellence in government.”

“The government should be run like a great American company,” he said.
