Three people have been arrested in connection to the fire that caused a section of an overpass to collapse in one of Atlanta’s most heavily-trafficked freeways.

According to Jay Florence, deputy commissioner of the state Department of Insurance, the three arrested were Basil Eleby, Sophia Bruner and Barry Thomas.

“We believe they were together when the fire was set and Eleby is the one who set the fire,” Florence said.

Eleby was charged with criminal damage to property, while the other two were charged with criminal trespass. While authorities have not released much in the way of details as to how they came to these arrests, Florence and Glenn Allen, an insurance department spokesman, said that the charges had been filed after the three who were arrested had been interrogated on Friday.

Florence noted that officials do not suspect anyone else of being involved in the fire, and while details have not been released as to how the first got started, Florence did say that the three used “available materials” in the blaze. Additionally, Florence said that all three of those arrested may have been homeless, though it is not clear whether or not they were living under the section of overpass that caught fire.
