Man, 21, falls to death while dodging cops on Facebook Live

Jamel Chandler, a robbery suspect, tried to climb out of his 11-story window to avoid police, but later fell to his death.

Jamel Chandler, who was a suspect in a livery car driver’s robbery, was terrified when police came to his door, so he tried to climb out of his 11-story window in Brooklyn with a rope created by twisting leopard print bed sheets together.

However, the rope did not hold his weight for long, and he fell to his death shortly after climbing out the window.

Just before his death, Chandler, who posted under the name Mell DeCaprio, took to Facebook Live, saying, “Cops is at my door. They looking for me right now. They about to arrest me … I’m about to get arrested, they’re about to lock me up. Tune in, tune in, tune in.”

He then told those watching the broadcast that he would jump out the window.

“I’m about to go to jail … and I ain’t been home a whole month,” he said. “I’m about to jump out the window. I’m on the 11th floor. I’m about to jump, bro, jump. If you want to jump, let me know. They right there bro.”

When police found out about the broadcast, they stayed outside the door, while a sergeant and two other officers rushed down to the ground floor to go outside in time to see him fall from about the seventh floor.

Chandler had only just gotten out of prison and was staying with a friend and sleeping on the couch. That friend was taken into custody in relation to the robbery, according to police.
