According to TMZ, Lionel Richie is being considered as the second judge after American Idol asked Katy Perry to join the show, reportedly paying her $25 million.
The producers reportedly liked the fact that Richie was outgoing and had a good television personality as well as his credibility and ability to put his finger on the popular trends.
With Perry’s $25 million deal and with Ryan Seacrest signing on to host again with a deal between $10 and $15 million, though, there are questions as to what kind of budget the producers could even offer Richie to join the show.
