True Detective Season 3 might star Mahershala Ali

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

A lot of people weren’t feeling season three of the crime drama True Detective after what many deemed a clunker of a season two, but all that has changed with the introduction of a new possible cast member: Mahershala Ali.

The Oscar winner is in talks to star in the third season of the HBO anthology series though no contract has yet been signed. HBO has not commented on any potential involvement by Ali but we are all hoping with fingers crossed.

Season one starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson got rave reviews but the Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn and Rachel McAdams led season two was lackluster at best. Former HBO boss Michael Lombardo has taken responsibility for season two saying he rushed creator Nic Pizzolatto in the writing process.

It’s now been two years since season 2 aired which means the Pizzolatto has hopefully had plenty of time to craft a better story.

The show does not yet have a confirmed season three but it looks as though the planning process is going well.
