Mariah Carey is telling the story of how she rose to stardom.

Starz is reportedly putting together a drama series that focuses on Carey’s life story, with Carey and her longtime friend Brett Ratner executive producing to tell the real-life stories in the untitled scripted drama series.

The show will be set in 1986 New York City and will follow the story of a young biracial woman looking to find fame and fortune in the music industry. Ultimately, Carey became the biggest-selling female music artist of all time, with five consecutive Hot 100 No. 1 hits in 1990-91 launching her into the spotlight.

Nina Colman is set to write the show and will also serve as showrunner and executive producer with Carey, Stella Bulochnikov, Teri Weinberg, John Cheng, and Ratner.
