John Legend: Trump ‘wants more people to die so he can embarrass Obama’

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

John Legend is not impressed with President Donald Trump’s response to the Republicans’ failed attempt to pass their own version of a health care bill through the Senate.

On Monday, the Senate announced that it did not have the votes to push through the highly unpopular GOP health care bill after two more Republicans announced that they would not vote for it, putting the vote tally at 48, short of the 50 needed to pass this through with a possible tie-breaking vote from Mike Pence.

Then, on Tuesday morning, Trump took to Twitter to lambast the failure, suggesting that the Republicans would be able to do what they wanted when Obamacare died: “As I have always said, let ObamaCare fail and then come together to do a great healthcare plan. Stay tuned!”

Legend wasn’t going to stand for that response, however, and took to Twitter himself, writing, “Your president wants more people to die so he can embarrass Obama.”

The heath care debate has continued to rage as Republicans’ plan was scored by the Congressional Budget Office and would have been expected to leave over 20 million people uninsured over the next few years. However, the GOP has not been able to come up with an alternative to Obamacare despite having control of both houses of Congress and the White House, despite their signature campaign promise to “repeal and replace” Obamacare.
