‘The Talk’ tackles the conversation no parent of color wants to have

My Black Is Beautiful and Proctor & Gamble tackles something parents of color have had to face in a country never void of hate and discrimination.

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

In a video campaign entitled “The Talk,” My Black Is Beautiful and Proctor & Gamble tackles something parents of color have had to face throughout generations in a country never void of hate and discrimination.

“The Talk” is an incredibly powerful and heartfelt piece that exhibits those indelible and arduous moments where parents are compelled to remind their children that they matter regardless of their skin color.

All at once, the 2-minute clip evokes and stirs up emotions of sorrow and heartache. In one scene, a woman tells her son,“There are some people who think you don’t deserve the same privileges just because of what you look like. It’s not fair…it’s not.”

Another mother says to her young daughter, “Remember you can do anything they can, difference is you gotta work twice as hard and be twice as smart.”

The video makes it a point to note that though times have changed and the country and world has come a long way from where it once was years ago, “The Talk” is still a necessity.
