What was set up to be a political debate on Fox News about the removal of Confederate monuments across the country turned out to be a conjoining of hurt and frustration over President Donald Trump‘s refusal to denounce neo-Nazis and the KKK.

Democratic political analyst Wendy Osefo and Republican political analyst Gianno Caldwell were brought to tears following Trump’s press conference, where he defended a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The emotional segment did not go as planned for Fox & Friends anchor Abby Huntsman, who seemingly wanted to see a debate between the left on and the right.

“It’s beyond a monument. This is about hatred. This is about white supremacy,” Osefo said, n expressing her disappointment with Trump for not directly condemning hate.

Caldwell later echoed Osefo’s sentiments: “You know, I come today with a very heavy heart. Last night I couldn’t sleep at all because President Trump, our president, has literally betrayed the conscience of our country,” Caldwell said. “The very moral fabric in which we’ve made progress when it comes to race relations in America, he’s failed us.

“Mr. President, good people don’t pal around with Nazis and white supremacists,” Caldwell added. “Maybe they don’t consider themselves white supremacists and Nazis, but certainly they hold those views.”
