Fugitive sex offender arrested after stepping outside to look at the solar eclipse

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Iowa police might just have the solar eclipse to thank for their recent catch of a fugitive sex offender.

26-year-old Ladarius Martez Blue was arrested outside of his Cedar Rapids residence as part of the U.S. Marshals Northern Iowa Fugitive Task Force’s “Operation Most Wanted” after surfacing on Monday.

According to a release by police, Blue was outside “in what appeared to be an attempt to observe the solar eclipse.”

Although Blue fled from police, a “concerned citizen” tipped them off to where he was hiding in a yard waste container.

Authorities have been looking for Blue since he disappeared in early June, according to The Gazette, after failing to register as a sex offender. He was convicted in 2010 for a lascivious act with a minor and pleaded guilty a year later for his failure to register.
