Woman charged after posting friend’s rape on Snapchat

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

It doesn’t take much to get some people to turn on their friends but most would not go to the lengths Chicago’s Beth Rae Harris did to get even.

After an argument over a man, Harris not only filmed the rape of her unconscious friend, she narrated it and posted it to Snapchat.

After the argument, the two women seemed on better terms and they went to a club and a hotel party together. That’s when, according to prosecutors, the victim drank heavily and passed out in Harris’ apartment.

Once the victim had passed out, Harris encouraged one or more men to rape her 23-year-old friend. When the victim woke up the next morning she found herself naked and sore.

No other perpetrators of the rape have yet to be identified and the investigation is ongoing.

Before the victim left the apartment, Harris told her “that a man had had sex with [her] while [she] was passed out.”

When she went home she saw that Harris had used the victims phone to post the graphic videos to the victim’s Snapchat account. The victim is clearly unconscious in the videos.

The victim was able to identify Harris as the woman ranting on film and from time to time narrating the rape videos.

She has been charged with non-consensual dissemination of sexual images. She has previously been convicted of battery, resisting arrest, reckless conduct and aggravated battery of a peace officer.

Her bail has been set at $150,000.
