Cardi B becomes first female rapper to top Billboard 100 since Lauryn Hill

Cardi B has made history this week, becoming the first female rapper to top Billboard’s Hot 100 chart without a feature in nearly 19 years.

The Bronx MC’s street anthem “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” is officially number one, knocking out reigning chart queen Taylor Swift‘s “Look What You Made Me Do.” With this monumental feat, Cardi B becomes one of only five rappers to top the chart at all; which includes Lauryn Hill (“Doo Wop/That Thing”), Lil’ Kim (“Lady Marmalade”), Shawna (“Stand Up”) and Iggy Azalea (“Fancy”).

According to Billboard, Cardi B is also the first female artist to top the Hot 100 with a debut track without an accompanied artist since Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” in 2014. “Bodak” has also earned 46.4 million U.S. streams this past week alone.
