Carey learned of the attack at the same time the news broke, meaning she had to react to what was happening live in the middle of her interview. The interview was then cut short to turn the news broadcast to the breaking story.
However, some people who didn’t know the interview had been shot before the news broke criticized Carey’s interview for not being compassionate enough.
