Lifetime releases trailer for new Flint water crisis movie

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Lifetime has just dropped the trailer for a new original movie called “Flint,” which shines a spotlight on the water crisis faced by the residents of Flint, Michigan.

The movie follows the story of four women on their own quests to prove that the government is lying about the quality of water being provided to the people of Flint. “There’s absolutely nothing to worry about,” an official says during the trailer, but the women in the film simply aren’t going to stand for it.

Nayyirah, played by Jill Scott, attends a rally and announces that “our trust in authority is gone.” Iza, played by Queen Latifah, goes to a town hall meeting to confront local leaders about the crisis. LeeAnne and Melissa, played by Betsy Brandt and Marin Ireland, simply bring two bottles of water to illustrate the unsafe conditions in Flint: one bottle is brown and one is clear.

The film airs on Saturday, October 28, on Lifetime.

While the trailer looks amazing, it’s also important to note that the water crisis, for Flint, still isn’t over. The affects of the crisis will be felt for lifetimes, due to lead poisoning, diseases, and other long-term issues, not to mention the fact that clean water still is in short supply there.
