Tracee Ellis Ross Will Host 2017 American Music Awards

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

The American Music Awards are just around the corner and we have a big reason to get excited about the show.

Tracee Ellis Ross will host the 45th annual event on Sunday live from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater where she will preside over the world’s largest fan-voted awards show.

“I am thrilled to host this special night which honors some of the greatest musical talents in our industry,” she said in a statement.

“And I’m especially thrilled to host this year when my mother is receiving the American Music Award for Lifetime Achievement.”

Aside from getting to see Diana Ross take the stage, other moments worth waiting for include a Whitney Houston tribute to honor the 25th anniversary of the hit film.

We’re thinking it may be another big year for Bruno Mars who is leading the pack with eight nominations including Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, and Favorite Male Artist – Pop/Rock. Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and The Weeknd tied with five nominations each, while Justin Bieber, Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonsi received four nominations each.

We can’t wait to see what Tracee has in store for fans when she takes the stage this weekend but we’re pretty sure she will bring big moments and even bigger laughs.

Tune in to the 2017 American Music Awards LIVE this Sunday at 8/7c on ABC.
