The Tupac Shakur-inspired Broadway play Holler If Ya Hear Me will close its doors after only 6 weeks.
“I was unable to sustain this production longer in order to give it time to bloom on Broadway,” said producer Eric L. Gold in a statement to Variety.
Starring rapper and artist Saul Williams, Holler if Ya Hear Me opened with mixed reviews and was not profitable out the gate.

According the New York Times, the Kenny Leon-directed play never brought in more than $175,000 a week in gross revenues, becoming one of the worst-selling musicals of recent memory. Holler if Ya Hear Me is the first Broadway play to exclusively use 2Pac’s music as its soundtrack.
