Between a birthday party for a southern king, the BET Hip Hop Awards show, and Jay-Z’s performance at the Barclays Center grand opening, black celebrities had a great deal to celebrate this past weekend. Rapper T.I. and his wife Tiny held court for his 32nd birthday with famous friends and family at a private mansion in his hometown Atlanta. Diddy, Nelly, Phaedra Parks, Miguel and Big Boi were some of the guests in attendance for the special event. While those folks partied it up, Academy-Award winner Halle Berry allegedly spent her downtime house-shopping with fiancee Olivier Martinez in Malibu.

Newcomer Azealia Banks worked the stage this weekend, wearing her staple mermaid-inspired, emerald green tresses and chunky black stompers. Having recently chopped off her own  hair, “Diamonds” singer Rihanna took a break from her daily grind to visit Giorgio Baldi Ristorante in Los Angeles. In honor of the series’ premiere this past Sunday, Revenge star Ashley Madekwe made an appearance at ABC’s lineup event. Jordin Sparks was also spotted out and about at the Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast cancer awareness gala dressed in all red.

NBA baller Amare Stoudemire spoke on a panel with former NBA stars John Wallace and Etan Thomas, as well as rapper Styles P and others, addressing about 250  incarcerated teenagers in Rikers Island gym last Friday. “The message we want to get across is fatherhood,” Stoudemire told a reporter. “A lot of young brothers who are fathers are incarcerated. …We’re going to keep their spirits up.”
