Jennifer Hudson is making a return to the big screen this holiday season — and she’s being backed up by an all-star cast.

The Oscar-winning actress stars in the musical Black Nativity, featuring a cast which includes actors and musicians like Angela Bassett, Tyrese Gibson, Forest Whitaker, Mary J. Blige and rapper Nas in supporting roles.

Hudson, who won an Oscar for performance in 2006’s Dreamgirls, plays the struggling single mother of a streetwise teen named Langston.

After facing a few hardships, she sends Langston to spend the Christmas holidays with his grandparents in New York City whom he has never met (played by Forest Whitaker and Angela Bassett).

The film, which is a contemporary adaption of Langston Hughes’ 1961 play, follows Langston on his inspirational journey to discovering the power of faith and family.

Black Nativity is scheduled to hit theaters on November 27.
