Beyoncé’s back! And with a whole new attitude…

Taking the music world by surprise, Beyoncé stirred up social media frenzy after releasing her latest track “Bow Down/I Been On” on her website Sunday night.

The song is only a snippet of what is to come before the singer embarks on her “Mrs. Carter Show” world tour this April – but don’t think of her as just the companion to rapper Jay -Z. Oh no, the 17-time Grammy Award winner is singing loud and proud that she is much more than just marriage material.

“I took some time to live my life, but don’t think I’m just his little wife/ Don’t get it twisted, get it twisted, this my sh*t, bow down b*tches,” sings Beyoncé, followed by a chopped and screwed ending to the song produced by Hit-Boy.

In true Bey fashion – or should we say Sasha Fierce? – the show stunner has surprised us again and all eyes are on her after a sequence of national debuts, from her much-talked-about inaugural performance to her highly-anticipated HBO documentary Life is But a Dream.

The track is arguably a departure from the usual female-empowering pop lyrics BeyoncĂ© is known for. Here she’s gritty, daring and edgy — with millions of Beyhive fans buzzing with excitement and sparking discussions across social media spheres everywhere.

“#Respect @Beyonce for declaring she took time to live her life! It’s the blood of good art – life lived,” tweeted actress Jenifer Lewis.
