Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Charles Ramsey was thrust into the spotlight after being hailed as a hero for saving three women who were held captive for a decade.

Now, he says his new-found fame has ruined his life and left him “broke” — despite the $50,000 he is expected to earn from media appearances.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Ramsey admitted that he has had a difficult time finding a job and he is currently facing financial struggles.

“I’m broke bro, and that’s the truth,” Ramsey said. “I’m borrowing money from my relatives. When people ask what’s going on with you charles? I’m borrowing money.”

Ramsey said that the national attention he received by rescuing Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight catapulted him into the limelight and he is now suffering from the fame.

“Now, I can’t get a job because they’re not hiring me for skills. They’re hiring me because they’re going to make a lot of money hiring me,” he said. “Just give me a job, just pay me.

According to the Daily Mail, Ramsey has earned $30,000 in the months since he discovered the three girls, included $15,000 in donations from those who wished him well. Meanwhile, he is scheduled to appear at four more speaking engagements and can expect his earnings to hit $50,000.

However, the publication also reports that he has purchased an $8,000 BMW and launched a business where he sold T-shirts with his face on them for $25.

Ramsey said that if possible, he wouldn’t have traded in the experience.

“As far as me giving up the fame, of course I wouldn’t give that up. We only get one shot at life,” he said. “Now as far as going back to normalcy as far as wherever I go, I’m not the topic of anybody’s subject – of course.”
