Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Christian Louboutin has no idea who Cardi B is, but he appreciates the fact that she references his red-bottom shoes in her hit song “Bodak Yellow.”

Cardi B, who recently made history topping the Billboard chart as the first female rapper to do so in nearly two decades, referenced the shoes in the lyrics: “These expensive, these is red bottoms/ These is bloody shoes/ Hit the store, I can get ’em both/ I don’t wanna choose.”

Louboutin admitted to the New York Times, however, that he didn’t know “much more than” her hairstyle, which he mimicked to illustrate that he knew what she looked like. “She has the hair like that? She’s a rapper? This ‘Yellow’ song?” he offered before admitting, “I don’t know much more than that, to be honest,” because he is “not a big rap person.”

But the 54-year-old designer said that he would like to meet Cardi B sometime and said that the musical reference to his shoes was fitting, since he felt like Cardi B fit the “attitude” of his original designs.

“In a way, it comes back to some of my origins,” he said. “The first shoes I ever designed were for showgirls, people on stage. Showgirls have a kind of attitude—they’re driving forces.”
