Dante de Blasio, the teenage son of likely Democratic New York City mayoral nominee Bill de Blasio, became a major figure in the city’s election cycle after appearing in an anti-stop-and-frisk campaign ad.
While the message of the commercial was compelling, Dante’s afro hairstyle got just as much, if not more, attention.
His natural hairstyle became a symbol of his father’s campaign, and some have even argued that Dante’s unabashedly black look helped woo black voters to his white father’s side.
