Darryl McDaniels, widely known as DMC from the popular 80’s hip-hop group Run-DMC, voiced his opinion on the lack of responsibility rappers today have, saying, “Jay Z ain’t hot.”

The hip-hop icon expressed his views on the bad music released by artists and the”disrespectful” state of hip-hop during an interview with the UK’s Metro.

“Ninety-eight per cent of hip hop music that’s out now I say is just bad demos,” DMC said.

The 49-year-old went on to critique some popular current artists.

“Lil Wayne, Jay Z ain’t hot, it’s just they’re programmed so many times people are brainwashed,” DMC said.

He said that hip-hop needs a positive message.

“The reason why hip-hop exists is because it started out with good intentions, once all the good intentions left the music became polluted, it became disrespectful it became immature.
