A 24-year-old New Jersey woman has admitted to being both drunk and high when she led police on a high-speed chase that ended in a fatal accident, killing her 41-year-old passenger.

Tiffany Allen initially reported that the woman killed in the front seat of her vehicle was her mother and that she had fled in order to avoid having her mother arrested for outstanding warrants — all of which later turned out to be bogus, according to the NY Daily News.

Investigators concluded that Allen had in fact lied — and that the woman killed was Shawnique Hills, an acquaintance.

Allen’s own criminal history was a motivating factor in her alluding arrest, prosecutors said Wednesday at her arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court. She had been previously collared for weapons and drugs, resisting arrest, assault on police and hindering prosecution and has a fugitive warrant for a forgery case pending.

Allen has now been charged with vehicular manslaughter, unlawfully fleeing a police officer and reckless driving.

The fatal crash occurred after police attempted to stop Allen’s Honda for a traffic infraction. She allegedly raced off, stormed through red lights and drove the wrong way, eventually crashing into a dark Chevrolet about a mile later.

She is being held on $400,000 bond or $200,000 cash bail until indictments are filed.
