WATCH: Kanye is stumped when Jimmy Kimmel asks why he thinks Trump cares about Black people
Kanye West, who usually praises Donald Trump, took a long pause on Jimmy Kimmel Live! when asked the question.
While we’re used to Kanye West running off at the mouth in his praise of President Donald Trump, we were surprised that he took a long pause to think before he spoke about the antagonistic Twitter-in-Chief.

The outspoken rapper who has been a vocal supporter of Trump appeared on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday night, to talk about his controversial comments in recent months, Newsweek reports. West who was much more chill than usual, was stumped when Kimmel posed a question about his Presidential support.
“ … In literal terms, there are families being torn apart at the border of this country, ”Kimmel said. “There are literally families being torn apart as a result of what this president is doing, and I think that we cannot forget that whether we like his personality or not, his actions are really what matter.
“I mean, you’ve so famously and so powerfully said George [W.] Bush doesn’t care about black people. It makes me wonder what makes you think that Donald Trump does — or any people at all?”
Blink. Blink. Long, confused stare.
That awkward moment of silence prompted Kimmel to cut to commercial break to give Ye rapper some time to gather his thoughts as the audience nervously laughed along. West can surely thank Kimmel for the rescue.
When they returned from commercial, things returned to West’s (ab)normal train of thought. You try to figure out the following quotes:
“People are so afraid to face what we’re actually dealing with,” West said. “…. We want to put a patina on it and not face it.”
“I’ve thought about a tombstone that said, ‘Are you happy now?'” West continued.
That comment even put Kimmel on alert that West might still be experiencing some mental health issues that he’s previous talked about.

“It’s funny, but not funny,” Kimmel said. “… When you have thoughts like that you have to be careful and talk to people.”
His thoughts also touched on Galileo being an iconoclast and meandered to “I’ve never heard of a class that breaks down how you balance a checkbook,” and about how people are all “unpaid actors in some giant script that we didn’t write.”
And of course, he continued his Trump lovefest.
“When I see people just even like go at the president, it’s like, why not try love. … One by one by one, we can diffuse this nuclear bomb of hate of society by thinking of everyone as our family and how we treat our kids,” he said.
Except, we don’t stick our family in cages, Kanye.
