NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) – The war between the Kenyan military and Somalia’s insurgent group al-Shabab has reached the internet as spokesmen of the two organizations trade taunts on the microblogging website Twitter.

Kenyan military spokesman Maj. Emmanuel Chirchir accuses al-Shabab of stoning an innocent girl to death and chopping off hands. The Somali group follows strict Sharia law and has carried out amputations and executions, including stoning to death a girl that Amnesty International said was a 13-year-old rape victim.

It’s not yet clear who is behind al-Shabab’s tweets. The writer says the Kenyan soldiers who entered Somalia in mid-October are disillusioned and inexperienced.
