Legendary jazz trumpeter Louis Armstrong will be inducted into the Apollo Theater’s Walk of Fame this weekend.

The walk, on 125th street in front of the famed Apollo Theater, has featured 17 other music legends, from James Brown and Michael Jackson to Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle.

“From Ella Fitzgerald to Duke Ellington to Louis Armstrong, the Apollo’s lauded lineage has earned it the distinction of being one of Harlem’s original jazz shrines,” said Mikki Shepard, Apollo executive producer.

The event will begin the iconic Harlem theater’s New Orleans to Harlem Jazz Weekend with a New Orleans-style parade celebrating the life of New Orleans native Louis Armstrong.

Performances at the event will feature jazz vibraphonist Stefon Harris; pianist, singer and songwriter Jon Batiste and Irvin Mayfield Jr. and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra.
