On day 46 of the oil spill disaster in the Gulf Coast, many blame President Obama for what is perceived as his tepid response to the massive oil spill clean up.

Oscar winning actor Louis Gossett, Jr. says he understands why many Americans are angry about the oil spill clean up, but he says Obama is not the one to be blamed.

“In reality, he didn’t make the mistake. It wasn’t his administration that left that problem down there, nor Katrina and those people who were ill-prepared…” Gossett said.

Gossett predicts that Obama will probably need another four years to get his goals accomplished.

“He has been successful at opening opportunities for many people,” said Gossett.

Gossett’s new book An Actor and a Gentleman aims to provide positive images of black men, and teaches life lessons on love and honor.

Along with his book, Gossett developed the Eracism Foundation—a nonprofit focused on providing social and racial awareness through education and entertainment.
