RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel tests positive for COVID-19
According to the report, McDaniel was last with President Trump on Friday, and she was diagnosed on Wednesday.
The chairwoman of the Republican National Committee has tested positive for COVID-19, according to reports.
Just hours after President Donald Trump announced that both he and the First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive for the virus, The New York Times is reporting that Ronna Romney McDaniel tested positive and is experiencing mild symptoms.
According to the report, McDaniel was last with the president on Friday, and she was diagnosed on Wednesday.
This morning, McDaniel tweeted, “Wishing @realDonaldTrump and @FLOTUS Melania Trump a speedy recovery. We are praying for you!”
The RNC chairwoman has not addressed her positive test result. She has reportedly been isolating at her Michigan home since her diagnosis.

She appeared on Fox News yesterday to discuss concerns for women voters where she condemned the Democratic presidential nominee for saying that he supports “law and some order.” She did not mention her diagnosis.
McDaniel assumed her role as the chair of the Republican National Committee in 2017. She was previously chair of the Michigan Republican Party.

The 47-year-old McDaniel is the niece of Utah Sen. Mitt Romney and worked for his 2012 presidential campaign against President Barack Obama, where she gained a reputation as a prolific fundraiser.
A staunch Trump supporter, McDaniel hosted Trump’s “Fake News Awards” in 2018, which were meant to highlight news outlets he said misrepresented him.
McDaniel self-quarantined earlier this year after experiencing a fever and flu-like symptoms in March following her attendance at a crowded fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago. At the time, she tested negative for the virus.

She is the latest in the Trump inner circle to have contracted COVID-19, including White House aide Hope Hicks.
Trump announced his positive test result in a tweet at 1 a.m. this morning, saying, “Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!”
CNN is reporting that the president is experiencing “mild symptoms,” according to an unnamed aide.
