Despite the shock over the massacre of children and teachers in Newtown, Connecticut, not much has changed in the U.S., when it comes to gun violence, Melissa Harris-Perry illustrated on her show Sunday.

At least 18 people have been shot to death in the U.S. every day, and deaths by gunfire continue in cities like Detroit and Philadelphia at a breathtaking pace. Perry says we should not look away, and calls for something to be done — not just to prevent the next Newtown — but to stop the steady pace of gun deaths from continuing.
