P. Diddy opens his charter school in East Harlem

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

On August 29, the doors officially opened to Capital Prep Harlem, the newest addition to the Capital Preparatory School network founded in Connecticut.

176 students entering the 6th and 7th grade were selected to launch this new program, and they have Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs to thank for that.

Following the organization’s president, Diddy walked on stage, serving out high fives and enthusiastic smiles to the students before delivering his opening address.

“I want Harlem to have the best schools… The best of everything,” Diddy said. “Instead of me complaining about education, I want to do something about it. So that’s why I’m starting this school.”
