President Obama's new man in South Africa
Every since Patrick Gaspard joined the Obama presidential campaign as political director in 2008, the 45 year-old New York fixer has been known for working long hours and keeping a low profile. When he takes on his new position, the hours will likely continue to be long but he can no longer operate behind the scenes. The President has nominated Gaspard to succeed Donald Gips as Ambassador to South Africa. Gips who was also a member of Team Obama before taking on a diplomatic role.
