The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence has released a new PSA calling for an end to Stand Your Ground Laws around the country.

The ad, entitled “Stand Up to ‘Stand Your Ground,” shows a dramatization of the night Trayvon Martin was fatally shot, including the use of 911 audio from the night of the shooting.

George Zimmerman was charged with the second degree murder of Trayvon Martin.  He pleaded not guilty, claiming self-defense.  A Florida jury acquitted him on all charges just over a month ago.

In the opening of the video, you hear part of Zimmerman’s 9-1-1 call as he follows another person.

You then hear 911 audio from a witness in a nearby home describing the altercation.

You hear the witness say there was a gunshot, and then you see a young man, presumably Martin, on the ground.

As the camera moves backwards you see more bodies on the ground with names of states who have Stand Your Ground laws floating above them.

George Zimmerman’s brother Robert Zimmerman Jr. took to his Twitter account to respond to discussions surrounding the new PSA.

Coinciding with the ad, the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence also started a petition, calling on lawmakers from different states to oppose Stand Your Ground laws.
