Quentin Tarantino and Don Cheadle use the n-word backstage at Golden Globes

theGRIO REPORT - During an interview backstage after the Golden Globe Awards, Quentin Tarantino and Don Cheadle use the n-word while addressing reporters...

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

For better or worse, the n-word has plagued Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained since it hit theaters nationwide weeks ago.

Last night the director took stage at the Golden Globes to accept the award for best screenplay. His speech on stage during the broadcast was rather tame, but it’s what happened backstage after the show that’s creating buzz today.

According to Entertainment Weekly, when asked if he was ever shaken by the use of the n-word while making Django Unchained, Tarantino responded:

“If somebody is out there actually saying when it comes to the word ni**er,  the fact that I was using it in the movie more than it was being used in the antebellum south in Mississippi, then feel free to make that case. But no one’s actually making that case.  They are saying I should lie, that I should whitewash, that I should massage, and I never do that when it comes to my characters.”

Don Cheadle, who won the Golden Globe for best actor in a comedy TV series for Showtime’s House of Lies, followed Tarantino for his backstage interview, and took the opportunity to use the n-word in jest.

“Please no ni**er questions. Black people questions are alright,” Cheadle said when he took the stage.
