Rape victim calls 911, pretends it’s her boyfriend

Quick thinking may have saved the life of a rape victim when her attackers forced her to call her boyfriend, and she called 911 instead.
According to police, 27-year-old Robert Giles kidnapped the victim and brought her to the back of a closed adult entertainment store early Monday morning, intending to rape her, WSB-TV reports. He then allegedly told her to call her boyfriend so that he would hear the assault.
She called 911 instead.

The 911 operator played along, pretending to be the boyfriend after the victim called in. “It was quick thinking on his behalf. In fact, (it) might have saved her life,” said Clayton County police Maj. Joe Woodall.
“She explained to him what the perpetrator had told her; that he was wanting him to listen while she was being raped,” Woodall told WSB-TV.
The operator tried to talk Giles out of the assault and also sent police to the scene.

“They were able to stop it right then and there and snatched him right from the car,” Woodall said.
Currently, Giles faces charges of rape, false imprisonment and obstruction charges, and Hapeville police are also preparing kidnapping charges against him, as the victim was abducted from the Hapeville area prior to the assault.
