RZA – what’s really good?

The Wu-Tang Clan rapper told Bloomberg Politics he believes “all lives matter.”

Wait. Wait. RZA wasn’t finished there.

The rapper also said he thinks young black men “brutalized” by police need to look in the mirror.

Basically, don’t dress like a stereotype and you won’t get treated like one.

Let’s start with his position on Black Lives Matter.

“Of course black lives matter,” RZA said when asked about the movment. “All lives matter. I stopped eating meat because their lives matter to me. I don’t think it’s necessary for us to grow a cow to kill it.”

He then expressed support for the police and regret for the way he feels they have been portrayed.

“In the old days, a cop, you’d let him in your house and give him a  cookie and milk,” he said. “Now that there’s been so much police brutality, a lot of the young people are scared of the cops.”

It’s unclear what time period RZA would say is the “old days” or if he gave cops cookie and milk when he was younger.

After expressing his support and appreciation for law enforcement, RZA then decided to focus his attention on how black men dress.

“When you think about some of the brothers who are being brutalized by the police, you also got to have them take a look, and us take a look, in the mirror, at the image we portray,” he said. “If I’m a cop and every time I see a young black youth, whether I watch them on TV, movies, or just see them hanging out, and they’re not looking properly dressed, properly refined, you know, carrying himself, conducting himself proper hours of the day — things that a man does, you’re going to have a certain fear and stereotype of them.”

Excuses, we need a moment. Make it stop.
