‘We on the scene of this b***h’: Citizen reporter goes viral after reporting fire live

A local citizen journalist in Norfolk, Virginia has gone viral after reporting live from a raging fire.

Rhonda Young is everything a journalist should be, aggressive, energetic and entertaining as her Facebook live videos attest to. Her videos are getting more attention than ever and people are eating up her funny rhetoric and colorful language.

“I’m very surprised and thankful that took off like it did,” Young said.

She and her husband Steven filmed the fire on November 27 and it has now been shared tens of thousands of times over.

Young also happened to get an exclusive interview with a man who ended up being arrested for lighting the fire.

She stated that she and Steven are a team, saying, “He takes the video and I report. I’m the loud, crazy one. He’s a quiet one.”

The house fire that has gotten them so much attention is not their first video. She has now gotten calls from national media outlets wanting to speak to her.

“I’m fun. I’m loving. I do not intend to hurt nobody. It’s all about having fun and enjoying life,” Young said.

“People need to laugh more, smile more and just be happy that they’re still living and still here.”

She spoke of her admiration of first responders and after her home was burned down last year, she knows how dangerous a fire can be. After she lost her home she was homeless for a while and “wouldn’t dare make a joke about anyone else losing their house in a fire.”

Her dream is to be on the news regularly or to get into some other type of show business.

“I would love to be a reporter out in the field, not one that sits behind the desk,” said Young, “Hopefully one day News 3 will pick me up.”
