A father and son in Arkansas say they were turned away from a gun range because of their brown skin.

The two, who remain anonymous, are not Muslim but are South Asian. They told The Arkansas Times that they were asked about their background as they filled out paperwork at the Gun Cave in Hot Springs.

The woman behind the counter told them the range was “a Muslim-free shooting range,” and that they should leave if they had a problem with the rule. Although they informed the woman that they were not Muslim, the father inquired about the rule and had a short discussion with the woman about it.

“Then, all of a sudden, I don’t know what went wrong, but she stopped us from filling out the paperwork and said, ‘I don’t think you guys should be here,’” the son told the Times. “She told us to leave or she’d call the cops on us.”

The young man said they left to avoid any trouble. “We’re brown — I don’t know if she assumed we were Muslim. When she first asked us, she said, ‘I would hope if you were Muslim you guys wouldn’t be cowards and would be up front about it.’”

He said they had been to the range before for “guy time” and wanted to visit before he went off to college. The business changed hands since the first time they went. The new owner, Jan Morgan, claims that her study of the Quran found “109 verses commanding hate, murder and terror against all human beings who refuse to submit or convert to Islam.”

“Since I have no way of discerning which Muslims will or will not kill in the name of their religion and the commands in their (Quran), I choose to err on the side of caution for the safety of my patrons,” Morgan posted on her website.

Morgan’s site (JanMorgan.com) appears to have since been shut down.
