Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

A 6-year-old showed up at his Campbell Park Elementary Marine Science Center school on Tuesday with more than three ounces of marijuana and a scale in his backpack. The child was bragging and showing classmates what he had saying, “Look what I got”, according to the kindergartner’s teacher. The drugs belonged to the child’s father, Larry Conelius Stephens, who was arrested later that day on charges of child abuse and possession of marijuana with intent to sell, according to St. Petersburg police. Stephens, 25, has had two previous stints in jail, his last coming just 72 days before his arrest Tuesday. The Tampa Bay Times has the story:

Police called it a felony case of show and tell: A 6-year-old showed up at Campbell Park Elementary Marine Science Center on Tuesday with more than 3 ounces of marijuana and a scale in a backpack.

“Look what I got,” the kindergartner told a teacher, police said.

The drugs belonged to the child’s father, Larry Cornelius Stephens, who later that day was arrested on charges of child abuse and possession of marijuana with intent to sell, according to St. Petersburg police.

“We think he claimed responsibility so that we knew it did not belong to his child,” said police spokesman Bill Proffitt.
