Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Usher Raymond and his ex-wife Tameka Raymond met today in an Atlanta courthouse for an emergency hearing, as Tameka attempted to get full custody of their two sons, 5-year-old Raymond V, and 4-year-old Naviyd.

This comes days after Raymond V nearly drowned in a swimming pool accident, while under the supervision of Usher’s aunt Rena Oden.

Tameka’s court filing said their son “suffered a near-death accident.”

During court Usher’s lawyer said the singer’s aunt is a “very attentive and wonderful person” who has helped take care of his children since they were born. Despite Tameka’s characterization, Usher’s lawyer said Usher’s aunt Rena is a “hero.” And Usher is a “wonderful, responsible, and caring parent.”

Usher’s stated that Tameka is guilty of an “abuse of process” by exploiting her son’s pool accident for publicity in order to garner sympathy for her case.

Tameka took to the stand and said that her son is doing well after the accident, but she still has concerns about his health. Moments into her testimony, she broke down sobbing, saying that she has been at the hospital since the moment her son was admitted, but that she has not seen Usher all these days. She said, “Usher didn’t show up.”

After the judge played the 911 calls, Tameka said that the tape shows Usher’s Aunt Rena “has no control over the kids.”

Tameka ultimately lost. The judges dismissed her request for primary custody.

“What happened here was an awful accident. And I don’t know based on the evidence I heard that any single person could have done any better as Ms. Odom,” the judge said. “I’m dismissing the motion.”

“In the future you [Usher] would be well advised to keep you former spouse informed about your whereabouts and who is taking care of the kids.

After court was dismissed Usher got up from his seat and walked over to Tameka and gave her a hug.

Usher and Tameka Raymond married in 2007 and divorced two years later. in 2012 Usher was granted full custody of their two children.
