Beyoncé’s long-awaited collaboration with actor-director Clint Eastwood on a remake of the classic A Star Is Born has struggled to get off the ground due to delays. Most recently, the production was put on hold due to the pop star’s pregnancy. But the filmmakers have also struggled mightily to find a leading man to co-star with Beyoncé. According to the Huffington Post, the wait may be over. Fresh off his comeback role in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and a buzzy part in the upcoming musical Rock of Ages, Tom Cruise is said to be considering the co-lead:

First “Rock of Ages,” now this? According to Variety, Tom Cruise is being courted by Warner Bros. to star opposite Beyonce in Clint Eastwood’s remake of “A Star Is Born.”

The film was originally set to begin production last month, however, plans were put on hold due to the pop singer’s pregnancy.

Tom isn’t the first leading man to be considered for “Star.” Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman and Leonardo DiCaprio — who worked with Eastwood on “J. Edgar” — have all declined the lead role.
