‘Vanity Fair’ Hollywood Issue provokes race question again

We’re betting you can identify just about every star in this photo, if you look closely.

It’s Vanity Fair’s 17th annual Hollywood Issue and the mag says that the concept was to feature the “most exciting the most exciting actors and actresses of the moment,” with ages ranging from 80 to 20. And did you notice the lion cub?

“We wanted to evoke the glamour of 1930s Shanghai, an era of smoky, alluring elegance,” says fashion and style director Jessica Diehl. The shoot took place on two coasts over two days.

If you recall, last year’s cover featured only white women and caused a stir for not including any people of color. This year, there’s some buzz that it would have been nice to feature a non-white person before the fold.
