“American Idol” proved it still had a few surprises up its sleeve Thursday night, with a shocking elimination, and word that the last remaining original host could soon make an exit.

Candice Glover was the first of the final three contestants to be pronounced “safe” Thursday, leaving Kree Harrison, and Angie Miller, who many considered to be Candice’s stiffest competition to win the show. To the audience’s (and Miller’s) shock, host Ryan Seacrest announced that it would be Angie Miller who was going home. That left Miller in tears — she was barely able to get through her final song — and Harrison looking shocked.

The final two are now set, and will have what could be an epic sing-off next week.

Meanwhile, it appears more “Idol” changes are on the way. E! News reports that Randy Jackson, the only original judge from Season One, will be leaving the show. According to E!:

…it’s not like Jackson doesn’t have enough to keep him busy. In addition to new music (including collaborations with Mariah Carey), sources tells us he’s working on a new book, film and television development deals and his growing branding business, which already includes eyewear, watches and guitars.

One thing Randy won’t have on his clearly full plate? Managing fellow panelist Mariah Carey. Apparently, that arrangement, like Angie Miller’s time on the show this season, has ended.
