After the shooting by the police of Alton Sterling, many responded with outrage and sympathy for the Sterling family. Watching Sterling’s 15-year-old son break down on television, asking for his father, was too much to bear for many viewers. Actress and writer Issa Rae of the web series “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl” decided to take action soon after the unsettling news.
