Teen accepted to Yale after writing admissions essay about her love of pizza
When Carolina Williams was filling out her application to Yale, she came across an admissions essay prompt asking her to talk about something she liked to do, so she described how much she liked ordering pizza from Papa John’s.
“Honestly, I thought I should go with the first thing that popped in my head,” Williams said. “It was completely genuine.”
Williams got her acceptance letter into Yale, and the admissions officer admitted that the whole essay made her laugh and even inspired her to order pizza from Papa John’s as well.
To celebrate, Williams even gave the pizza joint a shoutout on Twitter, writing: “I just want Papa Johns to know that I wrote a college essay about how much I love to order their pizza and it got me into Yale.”
Of course, it wasn’t just her hilarious pizza writing skills that got her in. The admissions officer told her that “every part of your application stood out in our process.” She was ranked in the top ten of her graduating class at Ravenwood High School, and she will be the first person in her family to go to college.
Even though she was accepted to Yale, Williams has decided instead to attend Auburn University, because she feels it is a better fit to pursue business, and because she liked the scholarship opportunities there.
